Dawn Taylor, owner/operater/instructor of Marine Canvas Training Institute was elected to the Board of Directors of Marine Fabricators Association for a three term at the 2010 Marine Fabricators Association convention in January, 2010.
Marine Canvas Training Institute was given the privilege of working with Glen Raven Fabrics on a project that apped on Ship Shape TV. MCTI was asked to fabricate a 3-sided enclosure, an aft cockpit shade curtain and a tower console cover for the 57' Monterey being "remodeled" on the Ship Shape TV series.
The boat is docked at Blowing Rocks Marine located on the East Coast of Florida and MCTI is located three hours away on the West Coast of Florida. With the help of Custom Marine Canvas, our custom canvas shop, we traveled over and spent the afternoon and next morning patterning the project. We utilized the "Dot" system of patterning. After fabricating the project in our shop, we then traveled back over two weeks later and installed the completed project.
It was a great experience for MCTI and shows that our patterning technique works.
