The Advanced Boat Canvas class continues a hands-on approach to learning. You will fabricate two projects during the week (typically a bimini top w/enclosure and a dodger/sprayhood). One project will be done in the traditional manor using zippered pockets. The second project will introduce the student to H2UBE, a new channel tubing system that eliminates zipper pockets, significantly lowers cutting and sewing time, provides more design options and many other advantages. A U-zipper or "smile" in a curtain with a screen will also be included during the week.
We are now offering class auditing opportunities. This means you can attend the Basic Boat Canvas, Advanced Boat Canvas or Boat Upholstery at a reduced price. At the lower price you are allowed to watch and take notes only but not participate in the fabrication process of projects.
Patterning a Dodger
Patterning a Bimini w/Enclosure
You will fabricate your own project from start to finish using traditional tubing and H2UBE. The curriculum includes designing and bending the framework for your project using traditional tubing, patterning using the "Dot System of Patterning", transfer the patterns to material to cut and sew your project, install and critique the finished project.
A project will also be made using H2UBE. It will include bending techniques, patterning, cutting, sewing and installation.
You will also make a U-zipper or "smile" in a side curtain with screen.
Cost of the seminar is $900/person/week. This cost includes a workbook and materials for making your project.
Cost of audit participation in the seminar is $525/person/week.
To better prepare you for your training seminar(s) and be familiar with the concepts we are teaching, we have come up with a package that includes the purchase of our full set of training videos or DVDs at a discount.
